The Hands on Health clinic in Rajasthan, India, offers local women and their families holistic health care such as acupuncture, naturopathy, herbal medicine, massage, chiropractic, midwifery, general medicine and homeopathy. They also have the opportunity to become trained in basic first aid remedies, grow their own medicines and develop a microenterprise.

Hands on Health Rajasthan is a not-for-profit project. All practitioners are volunteers. Hands on Health Australia accepts donations and funding on behalf of the Rajasthan Women's Clinic.

International volunteers with experience in naturopathy, homeopathy, Traditional Chinese Medicine, chiropractic and massage supervise the clinic throughout the year.

The clinic also accepts donations of natural medicines, first aid supplies, massage tables, educational materials and item such as bottles, acupuncture needles and homeopathic pillules.

Eighty percent of adult women have below normal Body Mass Index and below average haemoglobin due to poor diet. Fever, headaches, fatigue, visual disturbances, pain and weight loss are regular symptoms in one third of the population.

One third of adults report having a cold every month. Frequent ill health makes field work or collecting clean water from long distances impossible.

Medical services are free when available, however one nurse may be expected to work half-time to service up to 3000 people.

Hands on Health Rajasthan is currently developing a walk-in natural medicine clinic, a mobile outreach service to rural areas and an education facility. Women and their famlies are encouraged to learn basic first-aid and homeopathic remedies. Growing their own traditional medicinal herbs using a starter kit is also encouraged.

For a small fee, women can become trained in simple natural therapies techniques to support their families and local community. This creates healthier families and the potential for extra income.
